In a dramatic twist, the 2020 disaster film Greenland was originally envisioned as a Neill Blomkamp-directed project starring Chris Evans. However, Blomkamp and Evans quickly parted ways, leading to a collaborative effort between director Ric Roman Waugh and actor Gerard Butler. The sequel follows the Garrity family as they flee their underground bunker in Greenland to navigate a ruined world in search of a new home. Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin reprise their roles as John and Allison Garrity, while Roman Griffin Davis takes over the role of Nathan Garrity from Roger Dale Floyd. The cast includes Amber Rose Revah (The Punisher), Sophie Thompson (Gosford Park), Trond Fausa Aurvåg (The Bothersome Man), and William Abadie (Emily in Paris). The film's post-apocalyptic setting has already generated significant buzz, with the sequel securing a major deal at the Cannes virtual market—STX secured a $75 million agreement.
