China's Film Festival Unveils a Cinematic Extravaganza!

This year's event aligns with two significant cinematic milestones: the 130th birthday of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema. Quite the reason to celebrate, right?
The opening ceremony was a spectacle, blending creative performances, new film previews, and the iconic lighting of the golden rooster, signaling the commencement of the annual Chinese cinema extravaganza.
Xiamen, one of the first coastal cities to welcome international influences, has a rich film history. Back in 1905, a photographer's public screening on Gulangyu Island captivated audiences, and the city's cinematic journey began. Fast forward to 2019, Xiamen became the permanent host of the Golden Rooster Awards, solidifying its status as a cinematic and cultural hotspot.
Introducing Jingugu, the festival's new mascot, is a highlight. This charismatic golden rooster embodies the essence of cinema and Xiamen's allure. But here's where it gets creative:
"Jingugu bridges the gap between film culture and the public," said Chen Yueping, Deputy Director of Xiamen Film Festival Co., Ltd.'s Publicity Department. "Its design mirrors Xiamen's beauty, from the sky's blue to the lush greenery and golden beaches, even incorporating the city's floral symbol, the bougainvillea."
The mascot's attire is a vibrant reflection of Xiamen's energy, and its tail boasts the primary colors of cinema: red, yellow, and blue. And this is the part most people miss: its sharp eyes represent filmmakers' unique vision and their talent for capturing beauty.
From November 1st, Xiamen transforms into a cinematic wonderland. The Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Life Season offers an immersive experience with international and domestic film showcases, themed film-tourism routes, a movie-themed subway, a festival cruise, and pop-up stores selling festival merchandise across the city.
The festival promises a diverse program, including film screenings, academic forums, and the Golden Rooster Film Venture Capital Conference. The much-awaited Golden Rooster Awards winners will be revealed at the grand ceremony on November 15th.
This spectacular event is jointly hosted by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), the China Film Association, and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, with organizational support from the Movie Art Center under CFLAC, China Film Press Co., Ltd., and the Publicity Department of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee.
