Allison Rawlings Named Head of FX Publicity & Communications | Disney Entertainment News (2025)

A New Chapter for FX's Publicity: Allison Rawlings Steps In

In a move that's sure to shake up the entertainment industry, former NBCUniversal communications powerhouse Allison Rawlings is taking the reins at Disney Entertainment's FX division. But here's where it gets intriguing: Rawlings is not just replacing a veteran; she's stepping into a role that has been pivotal in shaping FX's reputation.

John Solberg, the long-serving FX publicity chief, has retired after nearly three decades. And now, Rawlings has been chosen to lead the charge, reporting directly to FX Chairman John Landgraf. But there's a twist: she'll also have a unique reporting line to Naomi Bulochnikov, the Executive VP of Communications for Disney Entertainment Television & Direct-to-Consumer.

Landgraf, in a statement, emphasized the importance of FX's communications strategy, which has always prioritized artist support and journalist respect. "With Allison at the helm, we're confident that FX's work will not only continue but thrive, and its integrity will be amplified."

The announcement, made by Landgraf and FX on Wednesday, reveals that Rawlings' role will be expansive. She'll be responsible for the strategic direction and vision of FX's publicity, communications, and creative services, encompassing talent relations, awards, events, and photo publicity. Her oversight extends to consumer publicity campaigns for FX originals across Hulu, Disney+, and the FX and FXX cable channels.

"FX has always been a beacon of exceptional entertainment," Rawlings said. "It's an honor to join a team I've admired for so long."

Rawlings' journey to FX began in 2016 when she joined NBCU. She most recently served as the Executive VP of Communications for TV and Streaming at NBCUniversal, overseeing communications strategy for NBC, Peacock, and six cable networks. Her work included repositioning Peacock ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, a corporate restructuring earlier this year saw her communications duties shift to New York, leading to her departure.

Before NBCU, Rawlings was the Head of Public Relations at DreamWorks Animation, where she established the company's first integrated communications function and guided publicity for Oscar-nominated films. She also played a key role in launching DreamWorks Animation Television in 2013.

Earlier in her career, Rawlings dedicated her efforts to the nonprofit arts sector, serving as the Head of Communications for the Geffen Playhouse, brand strategist for Center Theatre Group, and publicist for the Hollywood Bowl. She was part of the LA Philharmonic press team that opened Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2003.

And this is the part most people miss: Rawlings' diverse background and experience make her an ideal fit for FX. Her expertise in communications, combined with her passion for the arts, positions her to lead FX's publicity and communications team into a new era. But what do you think? Is this a seamless transition, or does it signal a shift in FX's approach? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
